Each January, for over one hundred years, the National Retail Federation has brought together the retail community for an event full of learning and networking. We call it Retail’s Big Show, and this year, we’re doing it twice. Our virtual event, NRF 2021 Retails Big Show – Chapter 1, starts January 12, and we’ll be convening back in New York in June for Chapter 2. NRF’s Vice President of Content and Retail Strategy Jill Dvorak joins the podcast this week to talk about what we’re hearing from retail leaders across the country and why this is going to be a Retail’s Big Show like none other.

In preparation for the event, Dvorak talked with retail leaders from across the country and the world. She’s inspired by how forthcoming and candid leaders have been in contributing insights and experiences about how they’ve navigated a difficult year.

The theme of the event, “Forward together,” is even more relevant than ever in the current global climate. NRF looked at six pillars to guide its content creation: Leadership, forward-looking growth, new business models, customer experience, operations and talent.

Another focus that emerged is the importance of the human element of running a business, including powerful sessions on diversity and inclusion; mental health for employees, managers and teams; and managing a globally disconnected team.
