Retail plays a key role in our national economy and security. As threats and risks continue to increase across the physical, digital and cyber spaces of retail, it is vital for retail loss prevention leaders to build relationships across peer, private and public sectors. 

NRF remains engaged across a variety of public- and private-sector organizations, associations and agencies. From membership and engagement of our own subject matter experts to bringing education and awareness opportunities to our members, we know the value of a relationship before it is needed in a crisis or event. We highly suggest that our retail members engage directly and build relationships where they can help support their loss prevention, risk management and organization resiliency.

Organized Retail Crime & Transnational Criminal Groups: Organized theft groups are known to profit from organized retail crime, cargo theft, and other theft and fraud-related criminal activities. OTGs can be involved in a myriad of other crimes including, but not limited to, narcotics trafficking, human trafficking, money laundering and even terrorism. It is important to understand that this criminal activity is organized crime. 

Cybersecurity & Infrastructure Security Agency: CISA is the operational lead for federal cybersecurity and the national coordinator for critical infrastructure security and resilience. It is designed for collaboration and partnership. Learn about CISA’s layered mission to reduce risk to the nation’s cyber and physical infrastructure.  

CISA Commercials Facilities Sector (retail-specific sector): The Commercial Facilities Sector includes a diverse range of sites that draw large crowds of people for shopping, business, entertainment or lodging. Facilities within the sector operate on the principle of open public access, meaning that the general public can move freely without the deterrent of highly visible security barriers.

Overseas Security Advisory Council: OSAC is a public-private partnership between the U.S. Department of State’s Diplomatic Security Service and security professionals from U.S. organizations operating abroad. Together, OSAC members share timely security information and maintain strong bonds for the protection of U.S. interests overseas. All OSAC products, events and other resources are completely free and available to any U.S.-incorporated organization and their employees, as well as U.S. government, law enforcement and military personnel.  

International Travel Alerts & Advisories: Provides a list of current travel advisories to U.S. citizens across the globe. Also provides additional resources including the State Department’s Smart Traveler Enrollment Program, and travel preparedness and safety awareness resources.

Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI)

Domestic Security Advisory Council: The DSAC is a public-private partnership offered by the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s Office of Private Sector and the Department of Homeland Security’s Office of Intelligence and Analysis that enhances communication and promotes the timely and effective exchange of security and intelligence information between the federal government and the private sector. 

InfraGard, Partners for Protection: InfraGard is a unique partnership between the Federal Bureau of Investigation and individuals in the private sector for the protection of U.S. critical infrastructure and the American people. As one of the nation’s largest public/private partnerships, InfraGard connects critical infrastructure owners, operators and stakeholders with the FBI to provide education, networking and information sharing on security threats and risks. 

Internet Crime Complaint Center: The Internet Crime Complaint Center, or IC3, is the nation’s central hub for reporting cybercrime. It is run by the FBI, the lead federal agency for investigating cybercrime. On its website, you can take two vital steps to protect cyberspace and your own online security.
